By Car > Driving from
Perpignan
We are 87km
from Perpignan. Leaving from Perpignan
Airport on N9, follow the signs to Perpignan
Centre Ville. Within 4km there is
a bridge with 4 lanes of traffic. Keep in the right
hand lane and just as you go over the bridge you will
see
an exit sign on your right marked Andorra/Prades.
Take this exit onto N116 and follow
the signs for Andorra/Prades. From the
bridge, the distance is approx. 44km to Prades. Once
you reach Prades,
follow signs for Font Romeu. 5km outside of
Prades, you will arrive at Villefranche de Conflent.
This is an amazing fortified citadel. It is well
worth a coffee stop (to adjust to altitude, it is also advised). Keep
following the Font Romeu signs. After 26km you
will pass Mont Louis, the highest altitude
fortified town in France. It is also the Army
training ground. On leaving Mont Louis you will come
to a roundabout. From
this roundabout, turn onto D618. 5km out
of Mont Louis, you will pass Pyrenees 2000 to
your right. There is a second roundabout. Continue
straight ahead on the main road (D618) signposted Font Romeu. On the right hand side of the road is a lovely old stone building (with chapel inside)
and
bar and restaurant outside, called L'Ermitage . Just after L'Ermitage the
road takes a very sharp left. About .5 km after L'Ermitage take the first left, signposted Odeillo/Font
Romeu Sud. Continue along the main road, past the
fire station on your right. We are on the
left, .5km after the
fire station. There is a big red sign with Le
Clos St Savin. As you enter the gates follow the
signs to the reception.
